John Clellon Holmes
This is the beat generation…Born: March 12, 1926
Died: March 30, 1988
Holmes may be best known for his novel titled Go, which resulted in that fervent searching early in the beat era not only for a new vision of writing but for a label for that writing. In 1952, Holmes wrote “This is the Beat Generation” for New York Times Magazine.
